Quote of the week
“Sometimes progress can be a step back, or it can be a pause. But it's still progress.”
Evelyn Krasnow, VP of Marketing at Highland Electric Fleets
This week’s TOP CMO
Kory Marchisotto, CMO of e.l.f. Beauty & President of Keys Soulcare
On this week’s episode of TOP CMO, Ben Kaplan interviews Kory Marchisotto on how being a disruptive force launched e.l.f. Beauty from a $1 cosmetics startup no one believed into a billion-dollar brand. Their desire to constantly break the rulebook. Their quick reaction to social media. The power of community and inclusivity. Their speedy decision-making process –as seen in their Jennifer Coolidge Super Bowl ad–.
Kory shares her “fail-forward” mindset. Being open to trying new things. Encouraging employees to come up with crazy new ideas that may fail, but will always teach them a lesson or two. Learning not to hold on too tight to ideas that may fail, but realizing when a project is worth improving on. This approach, she says, has allowed e.l.f. Beauty to move at the speed of culture, innovate, and keep up with its audience.
